reached a franchise low, drawing an announced crowd of 9,579 to the Pond.

Anaheim didn't set a new ''record'' on Wednesday night, however, the second-smallest home crowd in team history was at least treated to a higher quality brand of hockey.

The announced gathering of 10,348 saw the Mighty Ducks put forth three relatively solid periods during a game with the Boston Bruins The Boston Bruins are a professional ice hockey team based in Boston, Massachusetts. The Ducks, who have had their two worst home crowds in their 313-game Pond history come in back-to-back games, had a previous record low (before the Tampa Bay Tampa Bay, inlet of the Gulf of Mexico, 25 mi (40 km) long and 7 to 12 mi (11.3–19 km) wide, W Fla., separated from the Gulf by numerous small islands; it receives the Hillsborough River. , did step up the effort against the Bruins and they were able to sustain it for 60 minutes.

The first 31 minutes were scoreless, however, the Ducks and Bruins each exchanged two goals apiece over the next six minutes of the second period. Both teams turned up the offensive intensity along with the physical, chippy chip·py or chip·pie

 style of play.

The Bruins coverted a power play with 8:22 left in the second when center Brian Rolston slapped home a one-timer off a pass from Sergei Samsonov.

The Boston goal came four seconds after Anaheim's Petr Tenkrat left the penalty box. Tenkrat went off 34 seconds before teammate Ruslan Salei was sent off for two minutes for hooking, giving Boston ample time with a 5-on-3 power play.

Anaheim, which failed to take advantage of its first six power play opportunities, did so on the seventh as center Steve Rucchin found a place in front of Boston goalie John Grahame. Grahame was starting his first game of the season, giving No. 1 goalie Byron Dafoe the night off. Boston played Phoenix to a 1-1 tie on Tuesday night in Arizona.

Rucchin scored his second goal of the season with 6:32 left in the second when he tabbed home the rebound of a Paul Kariya shot.

The Bruins had killed off 39 of 40 penalties (97.5 percent) prior to Rucchin's goal. They were second in the league on the penalty kill coming into the game.

The Mighty Ducks' Jeff Friesen, who like Rucchin found room in front of the net, made it 2-1 when he re-directed defenseman Salei's shot with 3:37 left in the second.

Boston evened it a minute later when Martin Lapointe's blocked slapshot slowly found its way past Anaheim goalie Steve Shields.
