Byline: A.J. Perez Staff Writer

ANAHEIM - It was another night when the addition of some new blood proved to be the difference.

In this instance, it had nothing to do with Joe Thornton Joseph Eric Thornton (born July 2 1979, in London, Ontario, Canada) is a professional ice hockey centre in the National Hockey League. ``This was a huge victory, especially the way they've been playing since the (Thornton) trade,'' said Ducks center Rob Niedermayer Rob Niedermayer (born Robin Wade Niedermayer on December 28, 1974 in Cassiar, British Columbia) is a Canadian ice hockey centre who currently plays for the Anaheim Ducks of the NHL. He is the younger brother of fellow Duck Scott Niedermayer. , who was credited with the game-winning goal. ``They have a dangerous team with him and (Patrick) Marleau.''

The Ducks became the first team to deny Thornton a multi-point game since Boston dealt him on Nov. 30, although that one point came on a play that tied the game for the fourth time.

His cousin Scott Thornton worked free from behind the net and wheeled around to the face-off circle, where he snapped a shot past Ducks goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere to tie the score at 4 with 8:30 left. Tom Pressing and Joe Thornton were awarded assists on the goal.

But the Ducks (15-13-6) answered with a family combo of their own a minute and half later.

Samuel Pahlsson won the face-off cleanly and the puck eventually found its way to Scott Niedermayer at the blue line. He, in turn, rocketed a slap shot toward the San Jose net where his brother, Rob, was battling with Sharks defenseman Rob Davison.

Replays showed the puck glanced of Davison and past Sharks goalie Evgeni Nabokov, although Rob Niedermayer was given credit for the goal - the second time in the game and 10th time this season the brother duo have received points on the same goal. Video officials reviewed the goal to see whether Rob Niedermayer deflected the puck with a high stick. But after a few minutes, referee Dan O'Halloran signaled the goal was indeed good.
