WILMINGTON, Del., Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Du Pont (NYSE: DD)

announced today the consolidation of two of its major business sectors and reassignments for three of its senior executive officers.
The consolidation is part of the company's strategy to focus resources and management attention on core businesses where Du Pont provides unique technological and competitive advantage.
Du Pont Chairman and CEO Edgar S. Woolard Jr. said that effective Oct. 1, the company's polymers and automotive products sectors will be consolidated under one management. Woolard said many of the businesses in these sectors operate in the same markets, and their production and research facilities in many instances are linked. Woolard said that management of the consolidated sectors will be under the leadership of Ross W. Fasick, senior vice president, Du Pont Automotive Products, who is appointed senior vice president, Du Pont Polymers and Automotive. The Automotive business will continue to locate its world headquarters in Troy, Mich.
Effective Nov. 1, Archie W. Dunham, senior vice president, Du Pont Polymers, will be appointed senior vice president, Exploration Production, Du Pont, and executive vice president, Exploration Production, for Du Pont's energy subsidiary, Conoco. Dunham will be responsible for Conoco's upstream operations in North America, Europe and Russia.
