The event, held at the Ittihad Ballroom in Deira City Centre Hotel, was attended by Ibrahim Saleh, Coordinator General of Dubai Shopping Festival Dubai Shopping Festival started on February 15 1996 as a retail event intended to revitalise retail trade in Dubai. It has since been promoted as an tourist attraction. This yearly month long event is usually scheduled during the first quarter of the year. ; and Salah Al Kassim, Advisor in Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, in addition to the participants of the Exhibition and, local and regional media. Around 100 applications were received by the DSF DSF Dubai Shopping Festival DSF Digital Solidarity Fund DSF Division of State Facilities DSF David Suzuki Foundation DSF Dispersion Shifted Fiber DSF Dansk Sportsdykker Forbund (Danish Sport Diving Federation) Office to be included in the exhibition, out of which 53 were chosen based on the criteria set for the competition. The three winning entries from the 53 were announced and Ibrahim Saleh handed out the prizes to the winners. Ibrahim Saleh explained that the Photography Exhibition was C[pounds sterling]one of the many innovative initiatives launched by the Dubai Shopping Festival Office in 2005 as one of the mega events of Dubai Summer Surprises, with the aim of celebrating and honouring talents both locally and globally.C[yen] C[pounds sterling]The Photography Exhibition is tailored to celebrate the talents of junior and professional photographers alike. This yearCOs exhibition witnessed the largest scope of applicants since its inception with around 100 applicants coming from around the globe,C[yen] he added. Abdul Nasser, from India, was announced as the winner of the Photography Exhibition for his image of a desert Bedouin captured in black and white. The second position was bagged by Abdullah Ali, from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabia (sä `dē ərā`bēə, sou`–, sô–), officially Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, kingdom (2005 est. pop. , for his photograph of a potter at work.
