Thermoplastic Elastomers Thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), sometimes referred to as thermoplastic rubbers, are a class of copolymers or a physical mix of polymers (usually a plastic and a rubber) which consist of materials with both thermoplastic and elastomeric properties.  bv, which is part of the Elastomers business group of the Dutch chemicals and materials group DSM, has commissioned a European production line for Sarlink thermo-plastic rubbers. This line has an annual capacity of 5,000 metric tons and is located at DSM Specialty Compounds in Genk (Belgium). DSM Thermoplastic A polymer material that turns to liquid when heated and becomes solid when cooled. There are more than 40 types of thermoplastics, including acrylic, polypropylene, polycarbonate and polyethylene.  Elastomers' total production capacity for Sarlink has risen to 15,000 metric tons p.a. DSM Elastomers is currently studying the possibility of further extending the position of Sarlink in Asia and Latin America Latin America, the Spanish-speaking, Portuguese-speaking, and French-speaking countries (except Canada) of North America, South America, Central America, and the West Indies. .
