DSM Chemicals North America, Richmond, VA, and AlliedSignal have signed a letter of intent to form a 50/50 manufacturing joint venture to recycle used carpets. DSM Engineering Plastics, Sittard, the Netherlands, a business group of the Dutch chemicals and materials group DSM, has reached an agreement with Kohap Engineering Plastics, Ansan, Korea, about the establishment of the joint venture DSM Kohap Engineering Plastics Ltd. The joint venture (51% DSM, 49% Kohap) will focus on the marketing and sale of engineering plastics in Korea. DSM Solutech bv, Heerlen, the Netherlands, has reached an agreement with Teijin Limited, Tokyo, Japan, about the e establishment of a joint venture, DSM Teijin Solutech Limited. In its initial phase, the 50150 joint venture will concentrate on the marketing and sales of ultra-thin polymer films within Japan and to Japanese transplants in the Asia-Pacific area. DSM Performance Polymers, the Netherlands, has chosen Amoco's polypropylene gas phase technology for the plant to be built at its site in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. The 250,000 tpa plant for homopolymers and random copolymers will come on stream in the year 2000.
