DSM Chemicals, Kolon Industries and Namhae Chemical signed a joint venture agreement for the production of caprolactam in the Republic of South Korea. Named Hanhwa Lactam

, the joint venture will have a total production capacity of 140,000 metric tons that will be executed in stages beginning with an initial annual output of 70,000 metric tons. Total investment is $200 million, with DSM investing 50%, Kolon 30% and Namhae 20%. Site preparation and construction will begin soon and commercial operation will commence in 1994.
