 NM: DSLN), a direct provider of high-speed Internet access solutions for small and mid-sized businesses, today announced it has received competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) authority in Alaska.

With this approval, DSL.net is authorized to provide communications services in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia District of Columbia, federal district (2000 pop. 572,059, a 5.7% decrease in population since the 1990 census), 69 sq mi (179 sq km), on the east bank of the Potomac River, coextensive with the city of Washington, D.C. (the capital of the United States). . The company also announced that it provides high speed, affordable broadband service in all the states of the continental United States United States territory, including the adjacent territorial waters, located within North America between Canada and Mexico. Also called CONUS. .

DSL.net offers customers a symmetric digital subscriber line Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line (SDSL) is a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) variant with E1-like data rates (72 to 2320 kbit/s). It runs over one pair of copper wires, with a maximum range of about 3 kilometers.  (SDSL) service that delivers high-speed Internet connectivity, web hosting, enhanced e-mail capabilities and more using ordinary copper telephone wire. Faster Internet access levels the playing field for smaller businesses, allowing them to be more productive and to take advantage of applications and services once available only to large corporations.

Unlike many other providers of DSL service, DSL.net is a facilities-based provider dealing directly with its customers. Businesses have a single point of contact for the access and the services they need to compete and win in today's business climate.
