"We expect DSL equipment sales to recover; it's just a question of when," said Paul Baranello, an analyst at Dell'Oro Group. "Currently, service providers have initiated plans to grow their DSL subscriber base, either by expanding their network coverage, designing on-line content for high-speed connections, or offering less expensive monthly fees. More subscribers will lead to more equipment demand -- which we believe will begin to materialize in 2003. This year however, systems vendors will continue to recognize diminished revenue due to extensive price cuts and inventory issues."
