DSET Grows Sales Organization to Deliver OSS Interconnect Solutions to CLEC's; George Timmes Appointed Vice President, Carrier Sales.

BRIDGEWATER, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 26, 1998--DSET Corporation (NASDAQ: DSET) today announced an organizational restructuring that will help it better service the competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) market. DSET is currently a leading supplier of Local Number Portability (LNP) solutions and OSS Interconnect Gateways for this fast growing market.

"We have seen excellent activity levels in the OSS gateway segment of the market, thus encouraging us to invest in an entirely new and dedicated sales force for OSS and LNP solutions," said Bill McHale, president and chief executive officer of DSET. "Also, a recent industry report indicates that service providers may spend nearly $2.5B between now and 2003, which is at least 4 times larger than our own internal estimates. Some players are attempting to jump into this rapidly emerging segment, but none have the OSS Interconnect Platform that we recently announced as the foundation for our LNP and OSS gateway solutions."

A key element of growing the organization is the appointment of George Timmes to the position of VP, Carrier Sales, a new position for the company. Mr. Timmes will be responsible for sales of OSS Interconnect and Local Number Portability solutions, which are sold as either completed products, or built on a custom basis by the company's Professional Services organization for CLEC's or other telecommunications service providers.

Mr. Timmes joins DSET from Architel Systems Corporation where he was Senior Vice President for Worldwide Operations responsible for worldwide sales, marketing, professional services, product support and training. Prior to Architel, Mr. Timmes co-founded and served as Executive Vice President for Softwire Corporation where he developed and implemented the sales and marketing plans that launched the company into the real-time, mission-critical business applications market. He brings to DSET more than 20 years experience in the telecommunications industry.
