DRS subsidiary receives $2.8 million contract award to provide U.S. Navy Mission Recording Systems.

) ("DRS") today announced that its DRS Precision Echo Inc. subsidiary has received an additional $2.8 million award to provide engineering services and modified AN/USH-42 Mission Recording Systems for deployment on the U.S. Navy's multi-mission S-3B Viking aircraft.

A forward looking infrared (FLIR) is the North American English term for a camera that takes pictures using the infrared portion of the electromagnetic spectrum.
 video and two channels of cockpit audio, in addition to other sensor and mission information. The AN/USH-42 was designed specifically for the rugged environments and physical constraints of military aircraft. The system is capable of airborne and ground playback with video output in standard hi-8mm format. Ground playback is also possible by utilizing standard commercial replay equipment. The system was developed initially by DRS for use in the Navy's A-6E Intruder An attacker that gains, or tries to gain, unauthorized access to a system.
