Boeing uses the certification process as a tool to identify and recognize high performing suppliers strategically important to its business base.

Boeing's Preferred Supplier awards are granted to suppliers in recognition of significant accomplishments. DRS has been recognized for several quality achievements during the fiscal year, including the Aerospace Standard 9100 award and the Boeing Quality Management System award, both received in May 2002.
