) announced today that it has received a new order to provide rugged computers for a variety of U.S. Army and Marine Corps ground force modernization applications.

The $8.8 million contract was received by the company from General Dynamics General Dynamics Corporation (NYSE: GD) is a defense conglomerate formed by mergers and divestitures, and as of 2006 it is the sixth largest defense contractor in the world[1]. The company has changed markedly in the post-Cold War era of defense consolidation.  Communications Systems in Taunton, Massachusetts. For the award, the company's DRS Electronic Systems unit in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and DRS Laurel Technologies unit in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, will provide Explorer MP(TM) Rugged Portable Multi-Platform Workstations for a range of digital battlefield applications. DRS has received orders to produce over 1,500 Explorer MP(TM) workstations, including this latest award.
