) announced today that it has received a new contract to design and produce an auxiliary gas turbine generator set to support the Integrated Power System (IPS) engineering development model for the U.S. Navy's new DD(X) destroyers.

This order is part of a $2.9 billion contract awarded last year to Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC (Network Operations Center) A central or regional location for monitoring a large network. This unique role is expected to allow expansion onto other electric drive platforms supporting Navy growth initiatives, including new ships under the CG(X) cruiser and Littoral Combat Ship The Littoral Combat Ship is the first of the U.S. Navy's next-generation surface combatants. Intended as a relatively small surface vessel for operations in the littoral region (close to shore), the LCS is smaller than the Navy's guided missile frigates, and have been compared to  (LCS LCS - Language for Communicating Systems ) programs.
