) announced today the opening of a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Johnstown, Pennsylvania Johnstown is a city in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, United States, 60 miles east of Pittsburgh and 46 miles (76.6 km) west-south west of Altoona, Pennsylvania. The population was 27,906 at the 2000 census. .

DRS built the 130,000 square-foot facility for its DRS Laurel Technologies unit, in order to achieve operating efficiencies from the consolidation of three plants, increased production capacity to accommodate current programs and a capacity for new program growth. The new facility provides an expanded environmental stress screening Environmental stress screening (ESS) refers to the process of exposing a newly manufactured product or component (typically electronic) to stresses such as thermal cycling and vibration in order to force latent defects to manifest themselves by failure during the screening process.  capacity, more efficient materials management Materials management is the branch of logistics that deals with the tangible components of a supply chain.
