Kiriu has joined the company as vice president, programs of its Electronic Systems Group (ESG), based in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Mr. Kiriu will report to Steven Schorer, president of ESG. In this new position, Mr. Kiriu will be responsible for the implementation and oversight of established program management processes focused on performance visibility, risk assessment and mitigation planning. Mr. Kiriu has more than thirty years of experience in the aerospace, defense and commercial electronics industries. He has held positions with increasing levels of responsibility in program management, business development, advanced communications and engineering. Before joining DRS, Mr. Kiriu served as vice president, strategic programs of L-3 Communications' (NYSE: LLL LLL abbr. left lower lobe (of the lung) ) Ocean Systems division, where he was responsible for the development of new product and service business ventures. Program accomplishments include the development of a next-generation, high-altitude, extreme endurance communication system, as well as a system for the emerging homeland security market. Prior to that, he was president of ETK Corporation, overseeing new venture development in the military and commercial telecommunications, telemedicine and alternative energy technologies industries.
