DRS Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:DRS) announced today that three Electronic Systems Group units have been certified to be fully compliant with the International Organization Standardization (ISO) 9001:2000 Quality Management System Standard requirements. ISO 9001:2000 certification indicates that the company's operations employ best practices on an organization-wide basis, including both the engineering and the management of all projects and that they have the procedures and work processes in place to consistently meet the design and product conforming specifications for their defense and aerospace customers.

The quality assurance systems of the company's DRS Electronic Systems, Inc. unit in Gaithersburg, Maryland, DRS Engineering Development Labs, Inc. unit in Dayton, Ohio, and DRS Technical Services, a division of DRS Electronic Systems, in Chesapeake, Virginia, all were certified recently. DRS Electronic Systems' quality assurance system was certified by internationally accredited registrar RWTUV USA, Inc., formerly TUV Essen, Inc. in Clifton, New Jersey. DRS Engineering Development Labs was certified by internationally accredited registrar KEMA-Registered Quality, Inc. in Chalfont, Pennsylvania. DRS Technical Services was certified by internationally accredited registrar Bureau Veritas Quality International (NA), Inc. in Jamestown, New York.

The ISO 9001 Quality Systems Standard requires a process-based approach to controlling all company functions, such as contracts, engineering, document control, purchasing, government property, planning and processes, and inspections, from materials receiving to final product acceptance. It specifies minimum requirements for controlling external quality assurance and aims to enhance customer satisfaction. It is awarded only after the successful completion of a rigorous third-party audit by an accredited registrar of a facility's quality policies and procedures.
