The addition of EDS to DRS Rugged Systems (Europe) has formed a leading supplier of rugged, portable, Commercial Off-The-Shelf Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) is a term for software or hardware, generally technology or computer products, that are ready-made and available for sale, lease, or license to the general public.  (COTS) computers and systems solutions for international defense applications.

Founded in 1990, EDS, located in Chippenham, Wiltshire, the United Kingdom, is a leading source to the British Royal Army for rugged computers, and has provided over 3,000 systems to Britain's Royal Army, Navy, Air Force, and other European defense forces. Strongly complementing the core business focus of DRS Rugged Systems (Europe), EDS has focused on the design, development and certification to military and industrial standards of stand-alone rugged products and technologies.
