Networks has selected SAVVIS Content Studio(SM) to be integrated as part of its complete digital rights management package, providing its customers with a simple, one-step solution for managing and publishing content. NAB attendees can see the solution demonstrated at the DRM Networks booth, located in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center The Las Vegas Convention Center is owned and operated by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and is located in Clark County, Nevada. It is one of the largest Convention centers in the world. At the end of 2004, the center had 3. , # N1226.

Under the terms of the agreement, DRM will deploy SAVVIS Content Studio(SM) as an asset management and publishing module for DRM's Media Manager 3, a full feature set of the Windows Media Microsoft's audio and video framework for Windows, which embraces playback, encoding and streaming. Windows Media Player is the digital jukebox and media player that comes with every version of Windows. (R) 10.1 digital rights management (DRM) offering.

SAVVIS Content Studio is a fully redundant content archive and distribution service, provided as an IT utility, to enable access to digital assets via the network and the Internet. DRM Networks Media Manager 3 offers companies a turnkey solution for the packaging and licensing of digital content across multi-platform networks; publishers can encrypt and sell their content in a variety of ways, including subscription and pay-per-view models. By integrating Content Studio(SM) with Media Manager 3, customers can now quickly and easily select the file format and quality, then encrypt and send any digital content from a single window. The master file is maintained in the studio when content is distributed, allowing companies to keep extremely high-quality files on hand for redistribution as internet technology improves.

"Media companies know that in order to derive value from their content, they must have a cost-effective, highly secure distribution network combined with strong DRM offerings," said Randall Crockett, Senior Vice President, of DRM Networks. "SAVVIS' content studio is extremely intuitive, and helps people move their content online in a simple, secure manner. In combination with our DRM and Billing services, we can help convert 'Content to Cash' with only one call to one source for content review, master storage, distribution and 24/7 consumer and client support."

Using a browser-based interface, SAVVIS' Content Studio(SM) can be accessed either through the SAVVIS Content Exchange, or over the public internet. It offers multiple permission levels, giving media creators and owners the freedom to choose how and by whom their data is accessed. Equally, the Content Studio(SM) is future-proofed. Media can be stored in full-quality large files, then those files can be broadcast in whatever format customers can most easily use. As the internet advances, a new, higher-quality format can be quickly and simply broadcast by returning to the review studio.

The utility model of the Content Studio(SM) makes it suitable and affordable for media publishers large and small. Large media companies are no longer forced to maintain expensive proprietary networks, thus reducing costs significantly. Small players who might otherwise be at a disadvantage due to their size and reach are now able to behave like the larger content owners and publishers, by buying only what they need when they need it. These niche media outlets, sometimes called slivercasters, are increasingly important in all aspects of culture, and it is innovative solutions - such as the combination of SAVVIS' content review offerings with DRM Networks rights management solution - that make small-market and experimental media possible.

"By integrating their rights management and payment offerings into SAVVIS' content management utility, DRM Networks recognized that they can make digital rights management and monetization of content assets accessible even to small, niche content providers," said Richard Metcalf, General Manager, Digital Content Services, for SAVVIS. "This one-step publishing solution, provided as an IT utility, creates a level playing field See net neutrality.  for accommodating all levels of the market, allowing anyone to create and distribute high quality, secured content."
