The day was capped by a cocktail reception, dinner, auction, raffle and awards for golfers who won assorted skills contests. Entry fees for the sold-out event ranged from $850 for individual golfers to the $10,000 that HR Textron paid to be the presenting sponsor, Maloney said. HR Textron also donated $5,000 to College of the Canyons to provide scholarships for engineering students. ``They want to invest in the people they want to hire,'' Maloney said. ``All these companies are telling me about the dearth of engineering, math and science majors who are coming through the universities.'' Other items on the auction block were two signed baseballs from Chicago Cubs slugger Sammy Sosa, an autographed photograph of Muhammad Ali, a baseball bat signed by Zeile and all his Texas Rangers teammates, tickets to this weekend's USC-UCLA football game, an autographed Joe Montana football jersey, and baseballs autographed by Yankees hall of famer Joe DiMaggio and Dodgers legend Sandy Koufax, Maloney said.
