For other people named Michael Owen, see Michael Owen (disambiguation).
Michael James Owen[2] (born December 14, 1979, in Chester, Cheshire)[3] is an English football player currently with Newcastle United.
(right) has lent his support to the Chrysler-backed Umbro Schools Football initiative - the scheme that helps school children to enjoy soccer, improve their skills and keep fit.

Owen is a big supporter of the scheme, which was launched a year ago by former England football skipper Alan Shearer Alan Shearer OBE (born 13 August 1970 in Gosforth) is a retired professional English footballer who played as a striker for the England national team and Premiership clubs, Southampton, Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United. .

Chrysler has also backed the SFi for several years and currently loans one of its PT Cruiser cruiser, large, fast, moderately armed warship, intermediate in type between the aircraft carrier and the destroyer. During World War II, battle cruisers operated as small battleships, combining in one vessel maximum qualities of gun caliber, armor protection, and  models to the worthwhile scheme.

SFi National Co-ordinator Phil Darren said: "By the end of this school year more than 20,000 pupils in over 1,000 schools nationwide will have received coaching from the SFi and every one of them will have received a certificate signed by Owen.

"I am delighted that Chrysler is continuing as an official vehicle provider. We cover a lot of miles during the year and Chrysler's input is so important."
