DRIS IS A MASSIVE HONOUR.

ST PATRICK'S Athletic caretaker manager A caretaker manager is someone who takes temporary charge of team affairs of a football club. This usually happens when the regular manager is sacked or leaves for a different club.  Maurice O'Driscoll Maurice O'Driscoll (born Dublin on January 22 1968) was an Irish soccer player during the 1980s and 1990s.

He played for Drogheda United, St. Patricks Athletic and Bohemians during his career in the League of Ireland. He also had a spell on loan to Crusaders.

The Saints suffered a cruel defeat to Galway United last Friday, and O'Driscoll isn't sure when the club will recruit a new boss on a full-time basis.

O'Driscoll, inset, said: "I will leave that to people inside the club. It was an honour to be asked to take the team. That is what I've done. I've been involved with Pat's for three or four years and I've worked with the players before. "I got a phone call. Events had taken place and as I said it was an honour to be in charge. I certainly enjoyed the experience.

"We were disappointed to have gone a few goals down before we got a reaction, but we roll our sleeves up now and we've got Derry on Tuesday in the Setanta Cup and we'll look forward to that."

Galway manager Ian Foster was delighted that his team achieved a clean sweep of 2009 victories over the Dubliners.

Foster said: "If someone had said to me at the start of the season that we'd get four wins off the team that finished second last year I'd have broke their wrist snapping their hand off.

"It is an unbelievable achievement. What we have done more often than not is beat the teams around us.

"I stressed the importance of this game all week, that is was vital that we got a result."
