DRESSER NAMES PAUL BRYANT VICE PRESIDENT

 DALLAS, April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Dresser Industries, Inc. (NYSE: DI) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, John J. Murphy, announced today the appointment, effective April 30, of Paul M. Bryant as vice president, human resources. Mr. Bryant will report to Bill D. St. John, Dresser's vice chairman.
 Mr. Murphy noted, "Paul Bryant brings to his new job an understanding of the company, its industries and markets born from two decades of experience in Dresser's divisions and joint ventures."
 Mr. Bryant, 46, was most recently the vice president, human resources for Dresser-Rand Company, located in Corning, N.Y. Dresser- Rand is a major manufacturer of compressors and turbines for the energy industries. Mr. Bryant joined Dresser in 1972 and has worked in the company's oilfield services and hydrocarbon processing businesses as well as at the corporate and divisional levels. He is a graduate of the University of Houston with a B.S. in Behavioral Management Sciences.
 Mr. Bryant replaces Richard E. Hauslein, who has served as Dresser's vice president, human resources since 1988. Mr. Hauslein will be retiring within the next year.
 Headquartered in Dallas, Dresser is a leading supplier of highly engineered products and services utilized in hydrocarbon energy-related activities throughout the world.
