, local organizers are hoping no one will say no.

The sale, called the Dress Party, will be hosted by the city in preparation for bringing a Special Olympics event to Santa Clarita in 1999, said Lisa Baumgartner with the city's Parks and Recreation Division.

The sale will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Hilton Garden Inn Hilton Garden Inn is the name of a chain of hotels operated by Hilton Hotels Corporation. . Still, remember it's for a good cause. Money raised will help fund training sites in Santa Clarita and pay for a competition, Baumgartner said.

``There used to be a Special Olympics track and field training site up here for a while,'' Baumgartner said. ``I thought it would be nice to get this started because there are a lot of athletes up here and they have to drive all over for training sites.''

Basketball training, for example, is held in Burbank, Baumgartner said. Santa Clarita already has local people who can help, including a couple of Special Olympics coaches in Canyon Country, she said.

Baumgartner said she became interested in the Special Olympics because she was a therapeutic recreation major in college. When city officials mentioned that they wanted to bring Special Olympic events to Santa Clarita, Baumgartner said she offered to help.
