DREAMWORKS SETS AGREEMENT WITH IBM FOR MANAGEMENT OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY.

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 6, 1995--DreamWorks SKG and IBM today announced an agreement to develop the asset management component of the DreamWorks Digital Studio. The IBM Digital Library, utilized by the DreamWorks Asset Management System, will be incorporated as an integral part of the recently announced Digital Studio.

The DreamWorks Asset Management System, with the IBM Digital Library, will act as a hub to manage content created by any developer's workstation on the DreamWorks digital studio network.

The IBM Digital Library consists of products and services that help convert information into digital form that can be shared via networks. The system's capabilities allow users to work on the same material in different media, regardless of the time or place.

The system will run on IBM's high-performance parallel processing computer, the Scalable POWERparallel Systems(a) (SP2(a)). IBM's SP2 system was chosen because DreamWorks needed a powerful and scalable technology base that will scale, or grow easily as needs grow, to see projects through from initial production through full implementation for all DreamWorks' content.

IBM's SP2 can be scaled from as few as two to as many as 512 processors or nodes, and its architecture enables it to be scaled to thousands in the future.

This agreement with IBM is another important component in establishing the development of the DreamWorks Digital Studio which was announced last week with Silicon Graphics and its Silicon Studio unit. The DreamWorks Digital Studio includes the creation of a state-of-the-art computer animation system named DAD (Digital Animation Dreammachine) which will be supported in alliance with Cambridge Animation.

Integrated Systems Solutions Corporation (ISSC), an IBM subsidiary, will work with the DreamWorks Digital Studio to develop the work plan for the integration of asset management into the Digital Studio.

DreamWorks SKG, a multi-faceted entertainment studio, was formed in October 1994 by Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen to create motion pictures; animated films and television programs; network, syndicated and cable television programming; a record company and an interactive entertainment venture.

ISSC is an IBM subsidiary and a part of IBM's global services and solutions unit. ISSC's services and solutions include: managed operations and business process outsourcing; management and information technology consulting; systems integration; application development and maintenance; and business recovery services. Network design and management solutions are provided through the IBM Global Network. The SP2 is IBM's high-performance parallel processing computer that runs AIX(a), IBM's UNIX(b) operating system.
