 DR. JOHN D. BAXTER RESIGNS FROM CALIFORNIA BIOTECHNOLOGY
 BOARD OF DIRECTORS
 MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jan. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- California Biotechnology Inc. (NASDAQ: CBIO) announced today that John D. Baxter, M.D., has resigned from the company's board of directors. Dr. Baxter is professor of medicine and chief, Section of Endocrinology at Moffitt Hospital and director, Metabolic Research Unit at University of California at San Francisco. His resignation reflects his decision to pursue other drug discovery and biotechnology business opportunities.
 "John Baxter was a founder of Cal Bio and has played an important role in guiding the development of the company," said Richard L. Casey, president and chief executive officer of Cal Bio.
