DR. GAIL E. GILLENWATER NAMED VICE PRESIDENT OF CLINICAL AND REGULATORY AFFAIRS OF VYREX CORPORATION


SAN DIEGO, July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Vyrex Corporation (Nasdaq Small Cap: VYRX, VYRXU, VYRXW) today announced that Gail E. Gillenwater, Ph.D. has been named Vice President of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs. Dr. Gillenwater's extensive pre-clinical and clinical drug development experience includes direction of programs at Abbott Laboratories, GenDerm, Chemex, NDA Resources and SIBIA Neurosciences.

Dr. Gillenwater joins Vyrex from SIBIA where she was the Director of Clinical Studies for the past three years. Prior to joining SIBIA, Dr. Gillenwater was Managing Director and Director of Clinical Development for NDA Resources, a firm which specializes in the management of clinical study activities. Earlier she served as Director of Clinical Research at Chemex, Director of Clinical Research and Regulatory Affairs at GenDerm Corporation and Senior Clinical Research Associate at Abbott Laboratories.

Dr. Gillenwater holds a B.A. degree from Michigan State University Michigan State University, at East Lansing; land-grant and state supported; coeducational; chartered 1855. It opened in 1857 as Michigan Agricultural College, the first state agricultural college. , an M.A. from Georgia State University History

Vyrex is developing therapeutic products including redox redox (rē`dŏks): see oxidation and reduction.  modulators, which are designed to promote cell maintenance and repair by reducing the damaging effects of free radicals. Therapeutic targets include infectious diseases, cancer, ear disorders, and respiratory, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases.
