DR. CLAYTON YEUTTER ELECTED TO TI BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 DALLAS, Dec. 1 ~PRNewswire~ -- The Texas Instruments (NYSE: TXN) board of directors has elected Dr. Clayton Yeutter a director of the company. This brings the number of TI board members to 15.
 Dr. Yeutter has had a distinguished and respected career in government and private business. "Clayton Yeutter combines a diversity of experience in both the public and private sectors with a practical appreciation for the challenges and opportunities facing firms competing in world markets. He brings valuable counsel and additional perspective to our board," said Jerry Junkins, TI chairman, president and chief executive officer.
 From 1985 through 1989, Dr. Yeutter served as the U.S. Trade Representative, a Cabinet post reporting directly to the president. In this capacity, he was responsible for the development of U.S. trade policy and for coordinating the U.S. position on individual trade issues of importance to the nation.
 From 1989 to 1991, Dr. Yeutter served as Secretary of Agriculture, responsible for that agency's $50 billion budget and 100,000 employees. Earlier in his career, Dr. Yeutter was president and chief executive officer of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, one of the world's largest futures markets.
 Most recently, Dr. Yeutter chaired the Republican National Committee and served an assignment in the White House as counselor to the president.
 Dr. Yeutter serves on the board of directors of several companies, including Oppenheimer Funds in New York, Caterpillar, Inc. in Illinois, and FMC Corporation in Illinois. He has served on a number of corporate, government, university and civic boards in the past, including the board of the Chicago-Tokyo Bank, the board of the Swiss Commodity Industry Association, The president's Export Council, and the board of the Japan-America Society of Chicago.
 Dr. Yeutter holds bachelor of science, doctorate, and jurisprudence degrees from the University of Nebraska, where he graduated with honors.
