 DR. C. EVERETT KOOP TO ADDRESS NATIONAL HEALTH CARE ISSUES
 WHAT: Dr. C. Everett Koop, former U.S. Surgeon General, will conduct a 20-minute press conference to answer questions from the media regarding his views of national health care issues. The press conference will be held prior to a reception and policy forum being sponsored by Medica(SM) on national health care reform.
 WHO: Koop is a leading critic and educator on health care issues through his writings, broadcast appearances and through the C. Everett Koop Institute of Health and Science which he started shortly after resigning as U.S. Surgeon General in 1989, a post he held since 1981.
 Koop is being sponsored by Medica, Minnesota's largest managed-care organization and a leading advocate of better, more affordable and accessible health care.
 Koop will share his views on national health care issues with the media during a 20-minute press conference and later with Twin Cities- area CEOs, CFOs, and human resource and benefits managers during a one- hour forum on national health care reform.
 The media is welcome to attend the press conference with no advance notice. The media is also welcome to Koop's address, with prior notice.
 WHEN: Thursday, Sept. 17, 1992
 -- Press conference: 5:30 - 6 p.m.
 -- General reception: 6 - 7 p.m.
 -- Koop's address will start at 7 p.m. and last until 8 p.m. A 10-minute Q&A session will follow Koop's presentation.
 WHERE: Marriott City Center, 30 South Seventh St., Minneapolis
 -- The press conference will be held in the Lake Calhoun Room, 8th Floor
 -- The general reception and Koop's address will be held in the 4th Floor Ballroom
 NOTES: Food and beverages will be provided at the reception
 Representatives of the media should make reservations if they plan to attend the general reception and Koop's address.
 Koop's contract through the William Morris Agency restricts Medica, the press and all other parties from reproducing (audio, video, print) portions of Koop's presentation. The media will only have direct access to Koop through the press conference. Manuscripts of Koop's remarks will not be available in advance, during or following Koop's presentation.
