 BEI SENSORS AND CONTROLS GROUP
 SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- BEI Electronics Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: BEII), a San Francisco-based diversified technology company, today announced the appointment of Dr. Asad M. Madni as president of BEI Sensors and Controls Group. Dr. Madni will manage this newly formed BEI business group which includes Duncan Electronics, Edcliff Instruments and Seaton Wilson divisions. Dr. Madni's charter will be to build on the sensors and controls activities of these units.
 In this new position he will report to Peter G. Paraskos, president and chief executive officer of BEI Electronics Inc. and will be headquartered in Sylmar, Calif., with an effective date of Oct. 1, 1992.
 Dr. Madni joins BEI from Systron Donner Corp. (a subsidiary of the British company THORN EMI) were he was chairman, president and CEO. His previous positions over the last 18 years with Systron Donner include general manager of the Microwave and Instrument Divisions and corporate director of Engineering. Prior to joining Systron Donner in 1975 he held various senior-level positions with Pertec Corp., Abbott Transistors Labs, Pacific States University and UCLA. He received an A.A.S. from RCA Institutes Inc., B.S. and M.S. from UCLA and Ph.D. from California Coast University all in engineering. He has also completed the engineering management program at Caltech, the Executive Institute at Stanford University and the Program for Senior Executives at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
 Dr. Madni is an internationally recognized authority in the areas of electronic technology, credited with over 50 technical publications and numerous U.S. patents for electronic subsystems, systems and instrumentation. He is a senior member of the IEEE, life member of the Association of Old Crows (AOC), chairman of the IEEE MTT-S San Fernando Valley chapter and has served on the editorial review board of several major technical publications. Dr. Madni has chaired many technical conferences, is listed in numerous "Who's Who" publications and is the recipient of several awards and honors including the 1992 AOC Gold Certificate of Merit.
 Dr. Madni resides in Cheviot Hills, Calif., with his wife Taj and son Jamal.
