Once common standard for connecting peripheral devices (disks, modems, printers, etc.) to small and medium-sized computers. SCSI has given way to faster standards, such as Firewire and USB.
and Fibre Channel RAID solutions for servers and workstations, today announced its new 64-bit SmartRAID(R)V Millennium PM3755U2B-16M Ultra2 SCSI RAID controller is shipping to distribution channel customers worldwide. Available with one, two, or three Ultra2 SCSI channels and battery backup, it incorporates new 64-bit PCI bus architecture, effectively doubling the server-controller data path bandwidth. Unparalleled scaleabilty features include the ability to field-upgrade the single channel controller to two or three Ultra2 SCSI channels via channel expansion modules.

"DPT's 64-bit SmartRAID V Millennium is designed for those customers requiring the absolute fastest Ultra2 SCSI RAID controller available anywhere," said Johnny Cardosi, DPT vice president of worldwide distribution sales and marketing. "It offers extreme performance that beats the competition and provides customers with exclusive scalability features for cost-effective upgradeability and design flexibility. This is the product that many of our key customers have been waiting for."

According to Tim Jeffries, vice president and general manager of storage and components for the product management division of Ingram Micro, one of DPT's largest distributors, "High-end 64-bit PCI (1) (Payment Card Industry) See PCI DSS.

servers, designed to deliver enterprise-class performance in today's demanding data-intensive environments, require state-of-the-art RAID controller performance and features. DPT's new 64-bit SmartRAID V Millennium is a great choice."

Performance tests using the Intel(R) Iometer benchmark show the 64-bit SmartRAID V Millennium PM3755U2B-16M controller outperforming the industry's top competition. It beat the Mylex 64-bit DAC See D/A converter and discretionary access control.
