DPS enters a new market segment with its disk recorder for the rapidly growing Closed Circuit Television (CCTV CCTV abbr. closed-circuit television CCTV closed-circuit television ) market. The new product, in development since last year, will allow users to replace their current time-lapse tape machines with a cost-effective, quality-improved digital recording system. DPS will provide the disk recorder component to system integrators who will add cameras, monitors and cash register interfaces to provide a complete solution for use in retail stores, with ATM's and in other applications, such as casinos, that require continuous monitoring. Disk technology provides a number of important advantages in the surveillance application, including digital video quality and the ability to record selectively based on motion detection or other sensed conditions. Remote control, and the transmission of images over networks or via telephone modem adds flexibility and reduces false alarms. Previously too expensive for many applications, the technology developed by DPS has brought costs into a range comparable with existing analog tape solutions. The Company expects its first product to begin shipping by the end of the year, with live demonstrations this fall. In the Desktop Multimedia market segment, DPS has entered into a licensing agreement with Pennsylvania-based Quadrant International, Inc. ("QI") to introduce a professional non-linear video editing PC card solution.
