:DPL), the parent company of The Dayton Power and Light Company (DP&L), reviewed the highlights of its successful 2000, including record earnings per share and return on equity, as well as its merchant generation growth plan at today's annual meeting of shareholders.

In addition, shareholders elected four members to the Board of Directors.

Re-elected were Directors Mr. Thomas J. Danis, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, The Danis Companies; Mr. Allen M. Hill, President and Chief Executive Officer, DPL Inc. and DP&L; Mr. W August Hillenbrand, Director, Hillenbrand Industries Hillenbrand Industries, Inc., is a holding company. It has two subsidiaries. Hill-Rom makes hospital beds, furniture, and other equipment. Batesville Casket Company makes caskets and cremation urns. ; and Mr. Scott M. Stuart, Member, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co (commonly referred to as KKR) is a New York City-based private equity firm that focuses primarily on late-stage leveraged buyouts. It was founded in 1976 by Jerome Kohlberg, Jr., and cousins Henry Kravis and George R.  & Company. All returning Directors will serve a three-year term expiring in 2004.

DPL held this year's annual meeting at Edison Community College in Piqua, Ohio Piqua is a city in Miami County, Ohio, United States. The population was 20,738 at the 2000 census.

Piqua was one of the cities that experienced severe flooding during the Great Dayton Flood of 1913.
, continuing the tradition of meeting in communities throughout DP&L's 6,000 square mile service area. At the conclusion of the meeting, Peter H. Forster, DPL Chairman, presented the college with a contribution of $20,000 in appreciation of their ongoing commitment to the community.
