(NYSE:DPL) today announced that Standard & Poor's (S&P) has completed its annual credit review, lowering the Company's corporate credit rating to "BBB BBB A medium grade assigned to a debt obligation by a rating agency to indicate an adequate ability to pay interest and repay principal. However, adverse developments are more likely to impair this ability than would be the case for bonds rated A and above. " with a stable outlook. While disappointed with this action, both DPL and DP&L debt remain investment grade with S&P, Moody's and Fitch. "The reviews reflect global economic conditions and changes within the utility industry as a whole," stated Elizabeth McCarthy, DPL Chief Financial Officer. "DPL's financial position is supported by stable cash flows from our electric retail base and the liquidity in our financial asset portfolio." DPL expects to generate approximately $50 million in free cash flow during 2003 with current economic trends.
