:DPL) NOx compliance construction program continues on track with the installation of catalyst on the final selective catalytic reduction Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) is a means of removing nitrogen oxides, often the most abundant and polluting component in exhaust gases, through a chemical reaction between the exhaust gases, a (reductant) additive, and a catalyst.  (SCR (Sequence Control Register) See program counter. ) unit at its Stuart Station electric generating plant.

DPL's SCR system is scheduled to be in operation by May 2004 on budget and at a cost expected to be 20% below current installations. The system is expected to reduce DPL NOx emissions by more than 85%.

The catalyst is an integral part of the SCR system that DPL is installing to comply with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), independent agency of the U.S. government, with headquarters in Washington, D.C. It was established in 1970 to reduce and control air and water pollution, noise pollution, and radiation and to ensure the safe handling and  regulations. The SCR process breaks down NOx gases produced during the coal combustion process into nitrogen and water.
