DPL Installs State-of-the-Art Controls at Stuart Station.

DAYTON, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 3, 1999--

DPL announced today the successful installation of a new distributed controls system for Unit No. 2 at Stuart Station, a 2400 megawatt generating station. This is the second of four units at Stuart to have this state-of-the-art controls system installed. This extensive upgrade is one of the largest generating station control projects ever undertaken.

The new microprocessor-based system allows operators to monitor the boilers, turbines, burners and motors directly from computer workstations. With the customized control screens, operators can access real-time information that enables them to make a positive impact on the units' efficiency, emissions and availability.

To ensure a smooth transition to the new system, DPL made a significant investment in operator training. Using a high fidelity simulator, operators were able to practice under a variety of conditions that will help them keep the units on-line, running at peak efficiency.
