DPL Inc. announces new chief executive officer.


DAYTON, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 3, 1996--The board of directors of DPL (Digital PowerLine) An earlier technology for transmitting a 1 Mbps data signal over electric power lines from Nortel Networks. It was developed in the late 1990s, but later abandoned due to implementation difficulties. See broadband over power lines.  Inc. announced today that Peter H. Forster, age 54, chairman and chief executive officer will turn over the responsibility and title of CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  effective Jan. 1, 1997 to Allen M. Hill, age 51, currently President and COO.

Forster said, "My term as President of DPL since 1980 has been a team effort to transform DPL into the top tier company that it is today. Management succession has always been one of our top priorities and I'm proud to have Allen assume the CEO's position. He is ready for the challenge and shares the same positive long-term vision that all of us on the Board have for the future of DPL Inc." Forster added, "Allen will continue our course of enhancing shareholder and customer value through outstanding performance in every sector of our business. He is a seasoned leader."

Hill has been president and CEO of Dayton Power and Light, DPL Inc.'s largest subsidiary, since 1992. Hill said, "Pete and I have worked closely together in all aspects of the business and I'm excited about our prospects in the competitive environment emerging in our industry. I feel we have a quality DPL Team that will continue to be innovative and flexible. It is a team that is a top tier performer in this or any other competitive situation.
