As many holiday lighting displays begin to appear, DPL (NYSE:DPL) customers are enjoying the same cost of electricity as they did in 1994.

To help promote a safe holiday season, DPL encourages customers to follow these safety tips:

-- Use of lighting and extension cords which are UL (Underwriters Laboratory) approved.

-- Use of lights specifically designed for indoor or outdoor display. Outdoor lights often burn hotter than other lights, while indoor lights may not be waterproof.

-- Discard lights that have frayed cords, damaged plugs or light sockets.

-- Use power strips that have a built-in circuit breaker and do not overload your home's circuits.

-- Use an automatic timer to turn lights off and save energy.
