:DPL) today announced that customer demand, driven by hot temperatures and growth in West Central Ohio's energy needs, reached a new peak for the year.

Today's peak of 3,051 megawatts (MW) exceeded last year's peak demand of 3,045 MW.

DPL has seen strong customer demand throughout July and into the first week of August. During the past several weeks, DPL has experienced customer demand levels that ranked in the top ten of all-time highs on five separate occasions. DPL recently completed its four-year generation expansion program, which added 1,488 MW of peaking capacity. These additions, when combined with DPL's coal fired generation, allow The Company to meet its retail customer demand and continue to sell into the wholesale market.
