DPL Customers Set Record Usage.


DAYTON, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 22, 1999--

DPL (Digital PowerLine) An earlier technology for transmitting a 1 Mbps data signal over electric power lines from Nortel Networks. It was developed in the late 1990s, but later abandoned due to implementation difficulties. See broadband over power lines.  announced that its customers used 3,086,000 kilowatts of electricity as of 3:00 p.m. today.

This exceeds DPL's previous usage record set on July 21, 1998 by 79,000 kilowatts.

DPL's new combustion turbine peaking units were up and running and played an important role in meeting today's record demand. The utility's electric distribution system also performed well with no heat-related customer outages. The sweltering swel·ter·ing
