:DPL) recently completed a comprehensive analysis and reliability upgrade at its Kettering Substation, located just south of Dayton, Ohio Dayton is a city in southwestern Ohio, United States. It is the county seat and largest city of Montgomery County. As of the 2005 census estimate, the population of Dayton was 158,873. .

After conducting an engineering study and physical inspection of the substation, DPL rebuilt 3,000 feet of underground cable, increased capacity on two circuits, upgraded three additional circuits, rebuilt poles and cross arms, and added a number of lightning arresters to protect the equipment.

"Reliability is a top priority for us," said Pat Swanke, DP&L Vice President. "On an ongoing basis, we examine the system to determine where we can strengthen reliability for our customers. The new and improved Kettering Substation is an excellent example of that process in action."

DPL's Kettering Substation serves 20,000 customers in the south Dayton suburbs.
