heat and high humidity. With the heat index hitting temperatures greater than 110 degrees and power markets tightening, DPL's generation availability record was 97.5% during this key period, significantly above industry averages.

"The bottom line is that all of our generation runs when needed," explained Allen Hill Allen Hill (born 14 November 1843 in Huddersfield, Yorkshire; died 28 August 1910 in Leyland, Lancashire) played in the first-ever cricket Test, taking the first wicket. Hill also went on to umpire in the Test match played at Lord's in 1890. , DPL Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer. "This high level of availability allowed us to meet customer demand and ultimately be a net seller of generation during this high temperature period."

During this heat wave, DPL reached more than 98% of its all-time record demand set last July, while having essentially no heat-related customer outages. DPL's peaking generation played an important role in this success.

"We have a strong record in terms of generation performance, consistently beating national averages," stated Mr. Hill. "It's this ability to execute, to have generation available at key times, that is critical in a competitive energy market."

This week's performance mirrors DPL's exceptional generation record of last summer when the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) is an agency of Federal State of Ohio that is charged with the regulation of utility service providers such as those of electricity, natural gas, and telecommunications as well as railroad safety and intrastate hazardous  (PUCO PUCO Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (Columbus, Ohio)

) recognized DPL for its reliability. In fact, a report released by the PUCO on power shortages in June 1998 recognized DPL as being Ohio's only major electric company that did not have to curtail power to its customers.

DPL consistently ranks in the top ten in the country in terms of generation availability and efficiency.
