We thank our employees for working tirelessly around the clock, the local authorities for their cooperation, and all of the volunteer organizations for their support."

The initial storm damage left 50,000 customers without power, the majority of which were in the Xenia and Greene County areas. Main power lines had broken poles and downed wires. There were sections of electric lines that were completely destroyed and had to be rebuilt from the ground up.

Restoration efforts required 400 employees working around the clock to replace over 135 transmission and distribution poles, 301 spans of wire and 51 transformers. In spite of the devastation, over half of the 50,000 customers impacted had service restored in less than 5 hours, three quarters in less than 16 hours and all in less than 48 hours.

In addition to power restoration efforts, DP&L also provided special assistance in the form of generators installed at the City of Xenia administration building, the kidney dialysis Dialysis, Kidney Definition

All nursing homes were contacted to be sure that their backup power supplies were functioning and all life support customers were contacted to make sure they maintained service. DP&L also supplied the City of Xenia with 10 tree-trimming crews to assist in removing debris.
