The collection contains important artifacts chronicling the last 100 years of Miami Valley life and links to the events that shaped this region's history. The collection contains over 68,000 pieces, including original photographs, documents, and three-dimensional artifacts. The collection includes: -- Original photographs dating from the early 1900's documenting significant events from the region's history with such leaders as Thomas Edison, Frank Tait and John Patterson. -- Original motion picture film dating from 1930. -- Light-bulb containing water from the 1913 flood. -- A natural gas-powered fan. -- Artifacts of the early work of Charles Kettering, i.e., the electric generator used in many of his experiments, including the self-starter. The MCHS will display parts of the collection in a special exhibit later this year. The artifacts will also be integrated into the MCHS educational programming.
