The Antelope Valley residents turned out Saturday morning to pitch in for the United Way's 12th annual Day of Caring, with volunteers offering their help at local nonprofit organizations Nonprofit Organization An association that is given tax-free status. Volunteers from 18 businesses and several individuals gathered at the Grace Resource Center/Homeless Solutions Access Center in Lancaster before leaving to help with painting, cleaning, installing fence slats and other repair work at two nonprofit organizations. ``It feels good to give back to your community,'' said Mary Simms of Lancaster. ``These people do such good work, we need to get together and help them when we can. We get out in the sunshine and do something positive with our time instead of always being concerned about our own crazy lives.''
