DOUGLAS KARP ELECTED TO LCI INTERNATIONAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 DUBLIN, Ohio, March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Douglas M. Karp, managing director of E.M. Warburg, Pincus & Co., Inc., N.Y., has been elected to the board of directors of LCI International and its affiliates, according to an announcement today by LCI Chairman and Chief Executive Officer H. Brian Thompson.
 Prior to joining E.M. Warburg in 1991, Karp was managing director of mergers and acquisitions at Salomon Brothers Inc. and a manager with the Boston Consulting Group and a founder of its New York office. He serves on the board of directors for American Steel & Wire Corporation, Grubb & Ellis Company and Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services, Inc. Karp is a member of the state bar association in both Connecticut and Florida and is chairman of the board of Morningside Nursing Home, Bronx, N.Y. and a member of the Society of Stamford Hospital.
 Karp, 37, graduated summa cum laude from Yale University and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He received his juris doctorate degree cum laude from Harvard Law School.
 Karp, replaces Adam Solomon, also a managing partner of E.M. Warburg, Pincus & Co., Inc., who had served on the LCI board since 1988.
 Other members of the board include: William H. Janeway, managing director, E.M. Warburg, Pincus & Co., N.Y.; James T. Bartlett, managing partner, Primus Venture Partners, Cleveland; Stephen W. Fillo, president, Fillo & Co., Inc., N.Y.; Thomas J. Wynne, president and chief operating officer, LCI International; and Thompson.
