Byline: Fred Shuster Staff Writer

In what's being called one of the most significant art donations to a major American museum of the past 50 years, 11 oil paintings by 17th- and 18th-century Dutch masters have been unveiled at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, also known as LACMA, is the official and world-renowned art museum of the County of Los Angeles, California, located on Wilshire Boulevard along Museum Row in the Miracle Mile vicinity of Los Angeles. .

``It's an extremely detailed piece by a very rare painter,'' said J. Patrice Marandel, chief curator of the museum's European art collection. ``The piece has been known to scholars the world over, but not everybody has seen it until today.''

Another prized work is Saenredam's ``Interior of the Mariakerk, Utrecht,'' which uses earth tones to portray the Romanesque church's resolute stone arches.

``It's pared down to the bare minimum - no people, just a bit of color not of the white race; - commonly meaning, esp. in the United States, of negro blood, pure or mixed.
