Lee returned to Taft as the school's softball coach before taking the same position at Valencia 11 years ago. Skaggs Ramos has coached Santa Monica's softball team for the last 18 years. But Lee, mother to two boys, ages 10 and 6, and Skaggs Ramos, who has a 13-year-old son, both consider their jobs to be about much more than winning and losing, batting and base running. ``You look at sports right now, and you just see so many male figures,'' Lee said. ``There aren't too many female role models out there for girls, and I think we give them that.'' Skaggs Ramos agreed: ``We teach them about life, about being respectful,'' she said. ``The discipline we give them, they're going to take that with them beyond (high school).''
