Brendan Molyneaux, 48, died after he was shot in the head while Paddy Mooney, 58, was hit in the chest when three gunmen struck. Assassins burst into the ground-floor flat at Block G, Pearse House, Pearse Street, Dublin, just before 7pm. Following the attack the men were taken to separate hospitals but both were pronounced dead within an hour. Labour councillor Kevin Humphreys said: "There is a great deal of shock in the area. This is something that would not happen on Pearse Street. This would be unusual for that complex." Witnesses claimed to have heard at least three shots and gardai are looking for three gunmen, possibly more.
