DOT eliminates paper from financial processes with 170 systems.170 Systems, Inc., a provider of content management, document management, imaging and workflow solutions for e-businesses, recently announced the expansion of a program with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to bring all commercial invoices, records and financial processes online. The multi-year project involves the implementation of the 170 MarkView enterprise content management solution to integrate unstructured data from paper-based, fax, email, XML and other documents for all DOT agencies--an estimated 1 million pages annually--into a single online information repository. This enterprise-wide implementation provides a secure, Web-enabled environment for users to access, track and annotate Accounts Payable information. Workflow capabilities automate approval processes with paperless electronic routing for online review and approval throughout the DOT and its agencies. The system also supports auditing during the annual verification of financial statements. The project is managed jointly by 170 Systems and the U.S. Coast Guard Finance Center, which hosts the centralized database of invoices and other document images at its facility in Chesapeake, VA. The imaging system is tightly integrated with DOT's new accounting system, which uses Oracle Federal Financials and is operated by the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC MMAC Multimedia Mobile Access Communication MMAC Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce MMAC Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center MMAC Mutated in Multiple Advanced Cancers MMAC Multi Media Access Center (Cabletron) ) in Oklahoma City, OK.
